The afternoon before the trip starts, our team will pick you up from your hotels and bring you to our bike store for a bike fitting and safety check. After that, we’ll return you to your hotel so you can prepare for the days ahead
Your adventure begins with a scenic 5-hour transfer from Ha Noi to Viet Quang, including a lunch stop along the way. The afternoon ride starts from a little market, leading you into the heart of Vietnam’s remote northern mountains. The route takes you along winding roads, with approximately 10 km of thrilling snake-like curves. As you ride, you’ll pass through small ethnic villages, vibrant rice terraced fields, and stretches that run alongside peaceful rivers. The road gradually ascends toward a mountain peak, climbing nearly 800 meters in elevation and offering breathtaking panoramic views at every turn.
After reaching the peak, you’ll begin a descent through charming small towns, lush green valleys, and areas dotted with traditional stilt houses. The day’s ride concludes in the peaceful village of Thong Nguyen. You’ll spend the night at a local hotel, resting up after a full day of riding through some of Vietnam’s most stunning and untouched landscapes.
Ha Giang stretches along a 270 km border with China’s Yunnan Province and spans over 7,927 km² of dramatic limestone peaks and rugged terrain. This region is home to 22 ethnic groups, creating a rich mosaic of cultures, languages, and traditions that make it one of Vietnam’s most culturally vibrant provinces.
Today’s journey takes us through some of Ha Giang’s most iconic landscapes. We'll explore the prestigious limestone mountains and the breathtaking rice terraces of Nam Khoa, including the famous “Paradise Terraced Fields,” which have been recognized as a National Heritage site of Northeast Vietnam.
As we ride, we'll pass through remote tribal villages tucked into the hillsides, where traditional wooden stilt houses and vibrant local customs offer a glimpse into life untouched by time. The route includes several challenging hill climbs—rewarding us with sweeping views and photo-worthy vistas—before we descend toward Tan Quang.
After completing our ride, we’ll transfer by vehicle to Ha Giang town, where we can rest and reflect on the extraordinary cultural and natural beauty, we’ve just experienced.
We begin our ride this morning by pedaling out of town along a relatively flat 25 km stretch, passing through a serene landscape of terraced rice paddies and scattered minority villages.
From there, the terrain shifts as we ascend 800 meters over the next 25 km, climbing winding mountain roads into the dramatic limestone ranges, where towering perpendicular rock walls rise around us. Our route takes us past the renowned Heaven Gate 1 pass, where panoramic views and cool mountain air await.
As we pass through remote highland villages—often cloaked in mist—we’ll be welcomed with warm smiles and greetings from the local communities. At the summit, we are rewarded with breathtaking vistas, including the iconic Tam Son Valley with its distinctive 'Twin Hills', and the rolling countryside surrounding Quan Ba town.
We then continue our ride towards Yen Minh, where a vehicle transfer will complete the final leg into town in the late afternoon.
The morning ride takes us deep into the heart of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark celebrated for its towering limestone peaks, labyrinthine valleys, and remote tribal hamlets scattered across the rugged landscape. After a refreshing break at the picturesque buckwheat flower fields—famous for their vibrant pink blooms—we continue northward along a winding "snake road," tracing parts of the Vietnam–China border. The route passes through a series of colorful ethnic minority villages, offering glimpses into traditional highland life. Lucnh on the way.
As we approach the iconic Lung Cu Flag Tower, perched at the northernmost tip of Vietnam, we’re rewarded with sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and terraced fields. Afterward, we transfer by shuttle for about an hour to Dong Van town. Upon arrival, we check in to our hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon wandering through Dong Van’s Ancient Town, with its charming stone houses, traditional architecture, and quiet alleyways echoing centuries of cultural heritage

Your day begins in Dong Van Ancient Town, a charming highland settlement surrounded by limestone mountains and home to traditional Hmong architecture. After a few warm-up kilometers, the real adventure starts as you climb toward Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the most breathtaking roads in Southeast Asia.
The Ma Pi Leng Skywalk offers panoramic views over the deep gorge carved by the emerald waters of the Nho Que River. With dramatic cliffs and endless switchbacks, this stretch is a test of stamina and reward for the senses. Upon descending the pass, you’ll take a 1.5-hour boat trip on the Nho Que River. Drifting along this turquoise waterway between steep canyon walls offers a tranquil contrast to the morning’s ride. This section of the river, flowing through the Tu San Canyon, is one of Vietnam’s deepest and most photogenic.
After the boat ride, you resume cycling to Meo Vac, a lively town nestled in a scenic valley and a key cultural hub of the region. Here you’ll enjoy a well-earned lunch, often featuring local specialties like grilled pork, sticky rice, and mountain vegetables. Post-lunch, the journey continues on remote, winding roads heading southwest toward Bao Lac in Cao Bang Province. This stretch features gentler rolling hills, lush, terraced valleys, and scattered ethnic villages of the Tay and Black Hmong people. Though less steep than Ma Pi Leng, this portion offers a peaceful and immersive ride through authentic highland life. As the day closes, you’ll reach Bao Lac, a tranquil riverside town nestled between forested mountains. It’s an ideal place to rest and reflect on one of the most scenic cycling routes in Vietnam.

Wake up early to the tranquil sounds of Du Gia. Enjoy a cup of local coffee and take some time to explore the village on foot or by bike—it's a perfect opportunity to observe the peaceful rhythms of daily life in the surrounding ethnic communities. After breakfast, we hop on our bikes and continue pedaling through serene valleys, rolling hillsides, and lush forest paths. The route features a mix of gentle climbs and smooth descents, offering both challenge and reward. Eventually, we descend to meet the QL34 highway, where our cycling journey concludes. From here, we board our shuttle for a comfortable transfer back to Ha Giang city. After a well-deserved lunch and some time to relax, we continue with a scenic 5-hour drive back to Hanoi, arriving in late afternoon.
