Ca Mau is a remote province in the Vietnam's South Pole of the country with a vibrant Dat Mui End Cape- a mangrove forest national park and the vast cajeput forests of U Minh Ha & U Minh Thuong in south Vietnam's inland territory. The waterways are the main mean of transports in rural Districts. Ca Mau is known as the wetlands with swamps, the network of rivers, mangroves, cajuput forests. The province has a 54-kilometre coastline and two ecosystems of mangrove and cajeput forests recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve. Ca Mau has several attractions that draw domestic and international tourists. These include several wild bird parks, Dat Mui, the End Cape of Vietnam. Ca Mau province was part of the Kingdom of Funan, which included Laos, Cambodia, eastern Thailand, and southern Vietnam. This region was later conquered by the kingdom of Chenla and the Khmer Empire. In 1757, the land belonging to Ca Mau province was ceded by the Khmer king to the Nguyen lord, central Vietnam, with an early settlement of Vietnamese people. During French Indochina, Ca Mau was only a small town. During the Republic of Vietnam, the area was a stronghold for the Viet Minh, then Viet Cong, a Hanoi-backed guerrilla group fighting the United States Army and the South Vietnamese government during the Vietnam War. After 1975, Ca Mau was made the administrative seat and the governmental centre of Minh Hai province, including Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces.
