Today begins with a short vehicle transfer out of Bac Ha town before we mount our bikes on the scenic DT153 road toward Lung Phin. The ride takes us along the hillsides, weaving through remote tribal villages and offering spectacular views of the rugged landscapes that straddle the border between Lao Cai and Ha Giang provinces.

From Lung Phin, we leave the main road behind and venture onto an off-road mountain track. The route features a mix of challenging ascents to high mountain passes and exhilarating long asphalt descents leading down to Xin Man. This stretch of the journey immerses us in the authentic daily life of the region’s ethnic communities, including the Nung, Flower Hmong, Tay, and Ha Nhi peoples.

The final leg of the ride offers some of the most stunning views of the trip, as we approach Hoang Su Phi. Marvel at the breathtaking terraced rice fields—designated as a national heritage site and widely regarded as one of Vietnam’s most beautiful natural wonders. We end the day with an overnight stay in Thong Nguyen village, nestled deep in the heart of Hoang Su Phi.
