Vung Tau – Monkey Island - Can Gio Forest – Ho Chi Minh

Can Gio Biosphere Reserve is located in the coastal district southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The forest is about 75,740 hectares and is occupied by mangrove trees, saltwater, and an extensive river network. The mangrove forests have more than 200 species of fauna and 52 species of flora; monkeys and gibbons, crocodiles, bats, birds, fish and shellfish species etc. The forest hosts the highest diversity of mangrove plant species, mangrove-dwelling invertebrates and mangrove-associated fish and shellfish species in the sub-region and is regarded as the ‘green lungs of the city. Since the mangroves received the tourism development, including the buffer zone of the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve and infrastructures for the areas, the ecotourism of Vam Sat had become one of the most tourist attractions in Southern Vietnam. It’s an idea to explore the forest, experience local life on waterways, taking sampan through water palms, mangroves on water channels, enjoying a walk through the jungle, and learning more about flora and fauna.

Following breakfast, take a speedy ferry to cross the Gulf of Ganh Rai to Can Tho town. A good time we get Panorama Views, the sunrise, and the ocean landscape. Take a morning ride Monkey Island, walk through the park, imagine ourselves in nature with monkeys around us, and visit Rung Sat Musuem before we continue biking Dan xay Bridge. Have a private canoe trip, admire the river scenery, deeply into the mangrove forest- the lung of Ho Chi Minh City. An opportunity for us to see the surrounding landscape from lush riverside water palms to dusky mangrove swamps along river banks. Have a tasty lunch as you arrive at the head quarter of Vam Sat Ecotourism forest. After lunch, we explore the jungle, see thousands of bats hanging themselves on trees, see monkeys in their natural habitat and enjoy crab fishing and bird-watching for exotic local and migratory species. Afterwards, we return by boat and hop on the support vehicle for a transfer to Ho Chi Minh.
