The most exciting feature of Tra Su is that tourists travel by motor-boat or dinghies as they weave through the forest. Passengers will enjoy enormous emerald-green duckweed that blankets the water’s surface, as well as flocks of white storks that perch on cajuput together with many kinds of birds, animals, and fish. Sometimes, the boatman stops the boat and shows tourists some of the enormous beehives that rest on the top of the trees. Enjoy a morning ride on trails to Tra Su nature reserve forest, and it is also a bird sanctuary.

In the breeding season, birds stay home all day long to look after their eggs and baby birds. Your adventure biking travels along the Cambodia border, passing lotus fields, rice paddy. After we arrive at the forest, enjoy 2 hours boat trip, including sampan boat rowing this forest. You will experience boat rowing, trekking into cajuput trees, wetlands that attract many birds, including storks, egrets, cormorants, peafowl, and water cocks. We carry our last day ride on gentle pave roads, through palm trees to Ba Chuc village, your guide will tell you what happened in the town in 1978. Pay a visit to the memorial, see many photos taken by correspondent journalists as these photos are the war evidence. If time permitted! The ride will continue as we follow the quiet back roads along the border with Cambodia to Ha Tien.

Ha Tien is a small border town, but it is the international gateway between Vietnam and Cambodia. Its market is also tiny, but you could find interesting things here. The town is not far from Phu Quoc Island. The speedboat ride takes an hour and 15 minutes. A morning call wakes you up for breakfast, and then check out the hotel for the modern Super Dong speed boat to Bai Vong dock, Phu Quoc Island. The morning Super Dong speed boat will leave at 9:30 am, and it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get to Bai Vong dock. The afternoon is 1:00 pm, so you could make your choice before our sales team makes this booking. It would be best if you were on the boat 30 minutes before the boat trip starting. You should contact the hotel you booked on Phu Quoc to have you picked up at Bai Vong dock. Tour End!

Note: If you have booked the hotels/resorts on your own, arranged! Please contact them to have you picked up at Bai Vong dock. Another option is to get taxi to the hotel on your way. It does not include the trip.

We are back in Denmark again. We really enjoyed our Vietnam trip. Now we only have the memories. Especially the bicycling tour was fantastic. The guide Viet was excellent. His English was very good. His knowledge of the local areas was great. It was fantastic way to be introduced to the Mekong Delta. There was a good mix between biking, sailing, exploring, countryside’s and small villages. Also the driver was very helpful, and overall the tour was arranged so it could be flexible in biking versus sightseeing, this was good. Fantastic to see the local life in the small villages. Most of the route was narrow roads with little traffic, which we prefer. The last day had a relative long transportation section on normal road with trucks and busses, this is not ideal. Maybe better to change this to another place with small roads and longer cycling distance. We have been in 11/4/2018 Reviews tours at Vietnam Backroads. Mekong Delta on a car trip 14 years ago where we have seen. The tourist attraction as Sam mountain e.g So we didn’t need to see this. If tourists never have been there before I think they would’ve been happy to see this. Mr Viet was fantastic and it was good the trip was flexible after us. 06 - 07 - 08 - 09 - 10 Jan, 2018

The trip was very good indeed. It lived up to all our expectations and more. Tha choosed some beautiful routes so that the day to day tours has different contents. Very good. He took very good care of us and was very observant of our needs. So was the driver. Also very good service. The bikes were quite good and very appropriate for the purpose. The hotels were above our expectations and more upclass than we normally use. You could downscale on that part without reducing the value of the tour. The second evening in Cao Lanh we had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. The food was good but it is a very boring place to eat. Better use an restaurant nearby. Victoria lodge was fantastic! Thanks for showing us that. In all a very good trip. We can only recommend your company. 15 - 16 - 17 - 18 - 19 Nov, 2017

Viet was an excellent, always good services and concerned for us. His English was perfect. He was fun of information and always able to answer questions. Overall the trip was superb. Loc was a very careful and good driver, we appreciated that. The only little problem was the height of the saddle of my friend. Maybe more attention should have been paid to that. 04 - 05 - 06 - 07 - 08 Nov, 2017

We have just completed a five-day cycling tour from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc island. Being extremely seasoned travellers and in our 60’s (i.e. because our age and maturity), we were somewhat anxious about cycling in Vietnam where we have never been before. Well, it has proved to the best cycling trip we have ever taken! Every detail was meticulously planned and executed so that nothing was left to chance. The van was always there to meet us, where and when was prearranged. The cycles were first class and having accidentally left our gel saddle covers at home, the company obliged with another pair. Nothing was too much trouble for this company and its staff. The scenery was spectacular. By covering most of the 200 k on small back-roads no more than 3 metres wide, we hardly encountered a four-wheeled vehicle and consequently were able to pass through an unending stream of local family and business life with every turn of a corner and traverse of one of the hundreds of bridges. Dat (our guide) took us to see bricks being made in the same way as probably for 100 years. We saw the most beautiful lacquer products being manufactured, all mostly by hand. We saw and tasted varieties of fish, fruit and vegetables that even our fairly experiences palates had never met before. The five hotels at which we were booked into were all highly acceptable and two of them were as good as any we have ever stayed in. If only we could have lingered longer! On the one hand, we wish the trip could have gone on for another week, exploring Cambodia and other parts of Vietnam. On the other hand alas, our aching bodies would have probably cried out for mercy if we had chosen to go much further, but they will recover soon whilst the memories will last forever! Thank you so much Mr Van, Dat (the exceptional guide) and Loc (the utterly reliable driver). This tour company is highly recommended by us for those of you who want to experience by bicycle the real Vietnam and its’ beautiful people. Throughly enjoyed it. Dat was our excellent guide and I would recommend him to everyone. We was not have experienced true Vietnamese if we have taken a one day trip from HCMC or if we had stopped at age we towns, taken a boat trip. This trip showed us how people live, different culture belief, people in their daily lives. Beautiful landscapes and wonderful people. The truly memorial experience showed with excellent guide. 21 - 22 - 23 - 24 - 25 Dec, 2015

Hello Mr Van the man I sent yesterday our note on Trip Advisor ( excellent of course ). I wrote it in French so that it may bring new bikers from french countries. It also is easier for us to express our deepest gratitude in French. So many moments filled with peacefullness and beauty are now part of our memory. Thank you for joining us those two days. Your sharp awareness for details made the journey a little more special. We are now planning a short stretch to Phnom Penh, as you know. Thanks to Ms Quang for the arrangment. By the way, we think she would be a great guide!!! May Vietnam Backroads lead you into your furthest dreams, best regards. Feb 6th-10th 2014

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know we had a fantastic time on our recent cycle tour of the Mekong Delta region with Vietnam Backroads. Both you & Dat were fantastic guides and made the trip a memorable one. We are more than happy to blog our experience / feedback on your web site and that of LonelyPlanet and TripAdvisor in the coming weeks. We would have no hesitation in recommending your company to other travelers or travelling with you again in the future. In fact we are already contemplating returning next Jan with our teenage daughters. Thanks also for providing the Backroads cycle jerseys and shorts. We had intended to pay for them as a souvenir of the trip, we didn't expect them for free. You are very kind. We will wear them regularly at home and take every opportunity to promote your company to others considering a cycle tour in Vietnam. 14 - 15 - 16 - 17 - 18 Jan 2014.Yours sincerely.

Hey guys- here is my review of the trip, please feel free to publish it on your website. I'll also be sure to publish it on tripadvisor.com and anywhere else that might be helpful to you. Here it is- 'My wife and I chose the 5 day tour across the Mekong Delta. We had hoped to get to know the 'real Vietnam' and knew that by cycling, we had a good chance of getting to more out of reach places. My expectations were already high for the tour but somehow it managed to far exceed those expectations in what turned out to be a journey we'll remember for the rest of our lives. Firstly, I need to assure whoever may be reading this that Vietnam Backroads as a company is one of a kind. Van pioneered this way of exploring the delta and his routing is just perfect, balancing every aspect of country life day by day with a journey that slowly but surely continues to surprise the rider. Trustworthy and professional, have no doubts about booking a tour with them. Further to this, it is well worth mentioning that the 'service' elements to the trip are also excellent. My wife and I had our own air conditioned support vehicle, standing by and transferring luggage and supplies out of sight but only ever a short ride away. We also had the luxury of having all minor costs including ferry fares, fruit, lunch, dinner and hotels completely taken care of, something that allowed us to completely relax and fully absorb the experience. Whilst on the bikes we had expert knowledge at our disposal from our wonderful guide Loc, who would always let us decide how far we'd like to go that day, customising the experience to suit both me (a regular rider) and my wife (someone who only rides occasionally). The pace was never dictated and photos or stops were always accommodated. The paths were usually completely car free and the flat delta made for very smooth riding. The experience took in more than just cycling too... we were taken on private boats to floating markets, explored mangroves and discovered Temples and history of all kinds along the way. Meeting the wonderful people is something i'll never forget, they are naturally joyful and are openly kind wherever you happen to stop. I can still hear the kids running out to yell 'Hello!' wherever we went! The Hotels were great, naturally some were better than others but only ever where the city or town didn't accommodate as many tourists- a minor cost well worth paying in exchange for the adventure of straying from the beaten track. In summary, we had an amazing time. We ate multiple courses of wonderful food, were expertly guided wherever we went, saw places I'd never have imagined and had every comfort taken care of in a land where we were greeted with smiles and hospitality from everyone we passed by. If you are considering a trip and are not sure, just book it. You won't regret it, and whilst I am certain that all the guides are great, be sure to request 'Loc' for your trip, his kindness, knowledge and service go far beyond any guide that I have ever experienced. Book now before the secret is out!' Adam and Jeanne. December 4, 2013

This was a wonderful experience which enabled us to see Vietnam in a way we never could have alone. Dat was an intelligent, diligent, caring, truly fantastic guide. Thank you thank you thank you! Natalie Whitty, Thank you for a fantastic trip. Dat an Cuong looked after us both very well and I feel like I have seen a lot of Vietnam that would not have been accessible to me otherwise. I will certainly recommend Vietnam Backroads to my friends. Dat has been a excellent host throughout. Thank you and I hope to come back soon! Nov 1st - 5th, 2013

We arrived back home yesterday after a fantastic trip to Vietnam. We enjoyed our whole experience immensely especially the cycle tour through the Mekong Delta. It was very professionally organised and Cong was a good guide.

The only negative criticisms we would have are:
1. The tour should not be described as 5 days. It was clearly only 4 days with a ferry ticket for the 5th day to Phu Quoc
2. We would question the value for money. At $775 per head, those 4 days cost nearly as much as the rest of our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia! The food and hotels on the tour were nothing special and probably didn’t amount to more than $75 per head. Maybe if we had more people on the tour at a cheaper price we would have felt better about the cost.

On the whole though it was an amazing experience and your help with our organisation was also fantastic. 25 - 26 - 27 - 28 - 29 jan 2019

We rearlly enjoyed the trip and felt we saw the real Vietnam. The cycling was vaned and we were abale to experience rich culture.

Mr Cong had excellent knowlege of the local surroundings and gave us just thye right amount of information. We felt the trip was very expensive as it cost us as much for these 4 days as for the rest of our 5 day trip to Vietnam. 25 - 26 - 27 - 28 - 29 Feb 2019

Dear Phuong Tam
I just wish to report how much we enjoyed our cycle trip in the Mekong Delta. The organisation was excellent and we were able to appreciate this part of your beautiful country. Mr Phuc was a great guide and Mr Thanh an excellent driver. The accommodation and food were both really good quality.
We will recommend your company to all of our cycling friends.
If you would like us to post a review somewhere please let us know. 03 - 08 December 2023
