Bac Yen - Moc Chau

Moc Chau Plateau, located in Son La Province, is known for its scenic landscapes of rolling hills, tea plantations, plum orchards, and a patchwork of farmland. While the Kinh people make up around 35% of the population, the region is predominantly home to ethnic minorities, including the Thai, H’mong, Kho Mu, Dao, and Tay—each contributing to the area’s rich cultural tapestry.

Today’s cycling journey begins directly from our hotel. We ride out of town, passing through peaceful rural settlements and into the open countryside. The route winds through agricultural lands and offers a close-up view of daily life along the Tac River, where locals live in modest homes and tend to their fields.

After lunch, we cross the Da River by ferry and continue cycling toward the Moc Chau Plateau. The afternoon ride offers stunning views of terraced tea plantations that stretch along undulating hillsides. We’ll visit a local tea village to witness each step of traditional tea processing, and gain insight into H’mong culture as we interact with villagers. We end the day in Moc Chau and settle in for an overnight stay amidst the plateau’s tranquil beauty.
