Arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport. The Vietnam Backroads team will take you to the hotel. At 13:00, take a walking guided tour on lively streets, visiting some of the cultural and historical highlights of Ho Chi Minh: Reunification Palace, the General Post Office, and the War Museum. Walk down Dong Khoi Street, passing landmark buildings: the Famous Nam Kha Restaurant, colonial Caravelle, Continental and Majestic Hotels, Opera House, and City Halls. Dine with the group at a famous restaurant in the city centre.

8:00 am, depart from the hotel with a shuttle transfer of about 1 hour 20 minutes to outskirts of Tan An City. We ride for around 25km, arcoss gorgeous  paddy fields, enjoy the peaceful scenery of farmers seeding, and harvesting the rice crop, and fruit orchards along the rustic villages. Break for lunch in My Tho - Mekong Restop Restaurant. After lunch, we have another shuttle transfer of about 1.hour to Cay Lay District where we pick up our bikes for the pleasure ride to Cai be in the afternoon. The route is about 12km but it allow you to experience the daily lives of people who living along waterways of the Mekong River's branches. Make some stops at locals make coconut candy and puffed rice before check in the Mekong Riverside Boutique Resort & Spa. Enjoy sunset by the pool.

We begin the day cycling from the resort, following the shady back roads through lush orchards, and cycle to Ba Kiet, one of the oldest ancient wooden houses by the creek. This is a chance to learn more about the Vietnamese three-partial house in the delta. Enjoy Vietnamese cafe sua da, then resume cycling on concrete paths along the winding rivers to the local Cai Be pier, where we board the Cai Be Princess Boat, enjoy a 45-minute boat crossing the Mekong River- Upper River to Dong Phu village, An Binh Island. We'll continue to explore vibrant villages, pass kindergarten, primary schools, and small markets, taste seasonal fruits at local orchards, and experience the life of people, enjoy delicious lunch at a local homestay on the island before we have a ferry crossing to Vinh Long City. We then transfer 30 minute to Ba Cang, Tam Binh District, where we'll roll on authentic villages, through Khmer villages, join locals on ferry boats, visit one of the beautiful Khmer temples before we'll end the day at Can Tho Suspension Bridge for a short transfer to Victoria Hotel which is 30 minutes away. You are free in the evening to explore the town and choose your own dinner options: visit the vibrant street food market in the town OR choose some famous restaurants by the rivers in the city center.

We check out and start early, at 7:30 a.m., from the hotel. We'll board the motorboat to experience the morning Cai Rang floating market comprising wholesalers and retail boats. You could see hundreds of big and small ships every morning to buy and sell just about anything you can imagine – freshly harvested fruit and vegetables, rice, noodle soup, broken rice, and coffee are also for sale aboard a tiny boat or another! 


After a short 10-minute shuttle transfer, we'll embark on a picturesque bike ride. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the backwater areas, flanked by the lush greenery of farmlands. As we pedal along vibrant rivers and banana plantations, the beauty of the surroundings will captivate you. The morning ride covers a distance of about 25 km, offering a perfect balance of adventure and tranquility. We'll transfer an hour to the lunch stop. We take another 1.5 hours to transfer for the afternoon ride after lunch.


The smooth routes are about 20km, through beautiful vegetable farms and fishing farmings, passing Muslim stilt-house villages, and sometimes cycling along the rivers. There will be many stops at beautiful pagodas and little markets. We'll quickly transfer to the Victoria Chau Doc Hotel.

Today, we embark on a truly unique boat journey, leaving our bicycles behind and boarding the early morning Victoria Speed Boat to the vibrant capital city of Cambodia. Unlike any other, this boat ride offers a fascinating glimpse into local life, with floating villages and a basa fish farm dotting the picturesque landscape along the Mekong River bank.


In the afternoon, we take a guided walking tour that delves deep into this vibrant city's rich history, cultural inspiration, and the life of Cambodians under the Khmer Rouge. We visit Wat Phnom, a symbol of the city, and then move on to the National Museum, Cambodia's most significant cultural history museum. The museum houses numerous collections showcasing a wide array of ancient artifacts, including intricate sculptures, ceramics, bronzes, and stone carvings, offering a deep dive into the country's rich cultural heritage. We then visit the Royal Palace.


Note: travellers who still need to get the Cambodia visa before the trip! and will get a Cambodia visa at the border. Please take 3 passport photos with you on the trip.


Please keep your passport, visa photos, and other related documents in your day bag for your visa application process. Your guide will help you with exit and visa procedures at Vietnamese and Cambodian border gates. Please don't keep your passport and its papers in your suitcase.

Today, we are leaving the capital city for Krong Stueng Saen, Kampong Thom, where we will spend the night at Sambor Village Hotel. 


After a scenic hour's transfer to Prek Pnov District, we'll embark on a thrilling bike ride to Udong. Pedaling through picturesque communities, we'll witness the vibrant daily life of the villagers, with friendly children waving us hello along the way. This half-day adventure offers a perfect blend of excitement and relaxation, allowing us to immerse in the rural charm at a leisurely pace. A delicious local lunch at the market will tantalize our taste buds, and then we'll ascend the steps to the stupa on the hill. From the summit, we'll be treated to a breathtaking view of Phnom Penh on the horizon and the lush green plains surrounding us.


Afterward, we'll relax on A/C vehicle transfer 3 hours to Krong Stueng Saen. Check-in at the Sambor Village Hotel.

After breakfast, we travel on a shuttle quickly, just about 15 minutes from the hotel. We cycle to Sambor Prei Kuk, a ruined complex that dates back to the Pre-Angkorian Chenla Kingdom from the late 6th to 9th century. The back roads leading to Sambor Prei Kuk are beautiful, with stilted house villages, gorgeous rice fields, palm trees, and thatch houses along the countryside. After lunch, we'll have 2 hours transferred to Damdek, where we'll resume cycling on back roads and explore the lush countryside near the Tonle Sap Lake.

Today, we explore the incredible Angkor Temple complex and its surroundings. We'll have a shuttle transfer to Angkor to watch the sunrise. Learn about the history and culture of Angkor Complex and the Khmer Empire. Have breakfast, and pick up our bikes to discover other sites such as Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, and other less-known temples through the jungle trails. Stopping at Ta Prohm, admire the tree's roots wound through the structure of Ta Prohm temple, creating an astonishing merger of nature and architecture. This makes Ta Prohm one of the most picturesque and memorable of the Angkor temples. We'll return to Siem Reap by vehicle and enjoy a farewell lunch with the team. Free to explore Siem Reap night market in the evening.
