Ride to Xuan Giao- Night train to Ha Noi
Wake to the peaceful sounds of the valley as another beautiful morning unfolds in the mountains. Watch local villages come to life as families begin their day—farmers carry fresh produce to local markets, children make their way to school, and villagers tend their fields with buffaloes against a backdrop of misty mountains and terraced farmland. Today’s route is more relaxed, beginning with a scenic 28 km descent over gentle rolling hills and quiet mountain roads, occasionally following the river, and the rest is flat and paved toward Xuan Giao before a shuttle transfer to Lao Cai for a night train back to Ha Noi.
After breakfast and a freshly brewed coffee, we pick up our bikes and ride to Su Pan and Ban Ho, immersing ourselves in the rich traditions and everyday life of the Black Hmong and Red Dao communities. Along the way, enjoy some of the region’s most spectacular scenery, from the peaceful Ban Ho Valley and lush rice terraces to mountain streams, orchards, and small hydropower lakes. Cross Thanh Phu Bridge and follow smooth paved roads alongside the river before crossing a small suspension bridge into a more remote landscape. Pedal through peaceful ethnic minority hamlets, past vibrant rice terraces and fruit orchards, with a winding river accompanying us through the valley.
Our cycling journey comes to an end at National Highway QL4E, where our support vehicle will be waiting for the transfer to Lao Cai. We enjoy lunch en route before checking into a hotel, where there is time to rest, shower, and freshen up after the ride. Later in the afternoon, explore Coc Leu Market, one of Lao Cai’s lively local trading centers, where Vietnamese and Chinese goods reflect the city’s long-standing role as a border-trading hub.
In the evening, return to the hotel for a farewell dinner and celebrate the memorable landscapes, challenging rides, and cultural encounters of our Sapa cycling adventure. Afterwards, transfer to the railway station and board the overnight train back to Hanoi. Upon arrival in Hanoi, you will continue with your own travel arrangements.
