Depart from Ha Noi at 7:30 am, and we'll transfer 2 hours to rural village outskirts of a rural village in Luong Son. The first-day ride starts on country paths, rustic countryside to Cao Ram village, passes impressive karst limestone mountains and rice paddy fields, then we pedal, along mountains, lush deep valleys with rice terraces. We cross the Boi River and undulate the rural farms down to beautiful valleys stretching to Bo township, where our lunch break with 30 km of the morning ride. Following lunch is 1.5 hour's transfer to Thung Khe, which offers impressive mountain views. We explore spectacular mountain forests on a minor road with less traffic, challenge some small hills to Noong Luong before we get off the road, and ride a few km on single tracks to Ban Lac, where the White Thai ethnic group inhabits stilt houses.

After breakfast, we say goodbye to the host, ride from the homestay, travel through Ban Lac, follow the well-maintained paths, and enjoy local work on farms lush green of the valleys to Mai Hich village: pass by kindergarten and primary schools along the way. We stop at Mai Hich village, a new destination and an excellent place for a beaten-path experience cycling, and immerse in the traditional cultures and modern lifestyle of a tribal community. Then we turn onto the dirt tracks, pass remote villages along Ma River to Road 15, and ride to Phu Thanh—lunch en route to Pu Luong. We challenge some hills on the winding road to Pu Luong, through forested jungles, encounter breathtaking views, and enjoy the spectacular mountains, sometimes lush rice-terraced paddies along sleepy rivers. Arrive in Don Village and stay a night in a traditional house.

Dong Village is one of the terrific locations to offer stunning views, valleys, and mountain ranges. It's the home of the Thai ethnic minority, including nearly 100 traditional stilt homes. Early morning is a beautiful time to explore the village and local lifestyles and enjoy views of natural beauty surroundings. Then back to the homestay for breakfast, and be ready for an entire day ride. We ride to Pho Doan-tribal market, which location in the valley, where Thai minorities from villages nearby come with their beautiful traditional clothes and other product to trade. After visiting the market, we continue cycling through sugarcane and corn farmlands to Cam Luong. Sometimes we cycle along the rivers, and cross Cam Luong Bridge, travel along the Nam Ma River to Ho Chi Minh Trails. Lunch en route to Cuc Phuong Park. We will have a transfer to Cuc Park in the late afternoon.

Afterward, we cross Dong Giao pineapple plantation with many stops along local farmlands, taste the fresh pineapple, and finish the ride in Tam Diep. Take a transfer to Tam Coc for lunch. Take a boat paddling, through three caves under the big mountain, between two green rice fields and great limestone. We'll transfer back to Ha Noi in the late afternoon.

Note

Long was a very good guide, I enjoyed his company.

The bikes were good quality too and well maintained.

Considering the tour is on the expensive end, I did question the accommodation decisions a bit.
I personally enjoyed the more basic home stays (despite it making my evening of work quite difficult 😅), but others in the group did not.
Perhaps you should ask the client what their preference is beforehand?

Also, I think the boat trip at Tam Coc was unecessary too. I have already done it before & would have preferred more cycling.
But I'm sure this is a nice addition for those who have never visited Vietnam before, so it's hard to stay what is best.

Overall a very good experience =). 14 - 17/11/2023
