Considering Ho Chi Minh's lung and just about 50 km southeast of the city, Can Gio is one of the Mangrove Forest Ecosystems that attract locals and overseas tourists on a day trip. Can Gio Forest was recognized as the first mangrove biosphere reserve in Vietnam by UNESCO in 2000 and covered an area of 75 000 ha. It is a lively place of diverse flora and fauna, inspiring biologists and nature lovers to explore wetlands, wildlife and the former Viet Cong Base in Rung Sat-a military base from 1966 - 1975.
On the combined day tour from Saigon, you will explore the Vam Sat Eco Park by bike, canoe and sampan to see the natural sanctuary; birds, storks, crocodiles, Giant Bat Lagoon, the home of a thousand monkeys. After you are picked up at the hotel, we will transfer out of the crowded city and cross the Saigon River. The ride begins with a few km on the road, and then we turn left on small back roads. We ride through the mangrove forest to the rural villages and see locals farm prawns and fish along the rustic country road. Visit the bird's next farms and factory, then ride to the Vam Sat local market and pedal alongside the river. Break for coffee and fresh fruit and visit the market. Afterwards, we continue riding on opened-air paths across the fields of fish and prawn farms to Vam Sat Eco Park. This is an opportunity for endless photos and local farm visits along the way.
A rowing boat takes us into the forest, bird sanctuary, and giant bats. crab fishing, We take a short ride to Tam Bong Towner to look over the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, one of the most extensive sites of rehabilitated mangroves.
Break for a seafood lunch at the Vam Sat Eco Park centre before we have a canoe trip, along lush mangrove forest to Dan Xay bridge. Then we get on the support vehicle to Monkey Island, walk through the park, immerse ourselves in nature with monkeys around us, and visit Rung Sat Museum. Be careful with your sunglasses, cell phones, and day bags because monkeys love them very much. We return to Ho Chi Minh by support vehicle in the late afternoon.
