Vietnam Bike Tour: Hanoi to Saigon 10D/9N

Arrive in Hue early in the morning, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for breakfast. Following the itinerary of Vietnam Cycling Tours, begin with a walking tour of the historic Forbidden Purple City, then board a private dragon boat for a scenic cruise along the Perfume River to visit the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda. Continue to the Huong River Antique Pottery Museum, followed by a visit to the elegant An Hien Garden House. Enjoy a traditional Hue-style lunch in the city before beginning the afternoon ride.

The cycling route starts on the opposite side of the Perfume River, following quiet paved roads through the countryside. Pedal past lush fruit orchards, vegetable fields, and traditional mandarin houses, then continue to a local village where artisans craft incense sticks and handmade goods. Along the way, visit historical sites including old bunkers, ancient ruins, and centuries-old pagodas. Stop for a specialty local lunch at a nearby restaurant before continuing to the Khai Dinh Tomb. Cross the river via a pontoon bridge and ride onward to the magnificent Minh Mang Tomb, renowned for its harmonious architecture and tranquil surroundings. In the late afternoon, transfer back to Hue.

After a leisurely breakfast, we transfer to the riverside and begin cycling along peaceful backroads that wind beside the water, following scenic zigzag routes toward the historic Thanh Toan Tiled-Roof Bridge. In Thanh Toan village, enjoy a cultural pause as you chat with local elders in French or English, learning about their daily lives and traditions. Stroll through the village, capturing beautiful photos of the charming wooden bridge and surrounding rice paddies.

We then continue riding toward Thuan An Beach, pedaling through lush farmland, fertile rice fields, and tranquil riverside paths. Along the lagoons, pass through small fishing villages where you’ll spot rustic fishing shelters and traditional sampan boats gently floating on the water.

After crossing the lagoon to the Thuan An Peninsula, we follow scenic coastal trails to Tu Hien village for a delicious local lunch at a traditional restaurant. Following lunch, enjoy a relaxing break before choosing between an adventurous ride over the legendary Hai Van Pass—often called the “Ocean Cloud Pass”—or taking a support vehicle to the summit.

From the top, descend the spectacular mountain pass toward Da Nang, where we board the support vehicle for a comfortable transfer to the charming ancient town of Hoi An.

Stroll through the lantern-lit Ancient Town, admire its historic architecture, browse local markets, or relax with a Vietnamese coffee by the riverside. Visit the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, explore the peaceful countryside by bike, or unwind at the hotel beach of Palm Garden Resort. As evening falls, Hoi An glows with colorful lanterns, riverside dining, and a truly magical atmosphere.

Departing from the ancient town of Hoi An, we cross the Thu Bon River via a modern bridge and begin cycling through vibrant countryside villages rich with scenic beauty. Pedal past thatched-roof homes, grazing buffalo in emerald rice fields, and charming bamboo bridges that connect quiet rural communities. Escape the Cam Kim Islands behind, cycle toward the Truong Giang River, and enjoy warm encounters with friendly locals, offering a glimpse into daily life in riverside villages. 

The day continues along peaceful coastal paths and unspoiled sandy beaches, revealing the authentic rhythm of central Vietnam. Savor a delicious seafood lunch at one of the best restaurants by the local beach along the way. Ride beside tranquil waterways before following quiet back roads to the river mouth, where a ferry carries us to Tam Hai Island. A second ferry returns us to the mainland, where we continue cycling through rustic fishing villages and timeless rural landscapes. As dusk settles over the landscape, we’ll transfer to Quang Ngai for the evening.

After breakfast, we transfer to the Son My Memorial, a poignant site commemorating the 1968 massacre. Following a short visit, we begin cycling across Co Luy Bridge toward the coastal town of Sa Huynh. The morning bike ride is about 39 km.

Along the way, enjoy peaceful river scenery, bamboo-lined villages, and glimpses of authentic rural life in the backwaters. The ride passes through quiet hamlets, ancient temples, pagodas, rice fields, and salt farms, offering rich insights into local culture and daily life. Much of the route follows non-touristy countryside roads, weaving through small markets, farmlands, and tranquil villages.

After lunch on Sa Huynh Beach, we avoid the afternoon heat—and two challenging hills that, while not long, are steep and winding—by taking a one-hour shuttle transfer to Tan Phu, a small fishing village. From there, the afternoon coastal ride is flat and scenic, following the shoreline through lively fishing communities to De Ghi. The day's ride ends in Cat Hai with the afternoon ride is 36 km. We then board on support vehicles for a transfer along the beautiful coastal road to Quy Nhon.

We set off on the final day’s cycling adventure after a 1.5-hour shuttle to the township of Ganh Do Township, where the ride begins with a memorable crossing of the small wooden Tiger Bridge over the Phu Ngan River into the peaceful village of An Ninh Tay Village. From here, the route unfolds along scenic coastal roads, offering sweeping ocean panoramas and glimpses of colorful circular bamboo boats clustered in charming fishing hamlets.

Pedaling onward, we venture toward the dramatic Da Dia Reef, where rustic farmland meets one of Vietnam’s most striking geological wonders. Stretching roughly 100 meters wide and 250 meters long, this extraordinary shoreline is formed by an estimated 35,000 basalt columns—dark volcanic formations shaped into natural pentagons, hexagons, and polygons. We pause here for a short walk, a well-earned break, and memorable photos among the unique rock formations.

Back in the saddle, we follow narrow coastal tracks that weave alongside local beaches, through lively village markets, and toward a vibrant lagoon dotted with hundreds of floating fish farms. The journey continues across rivers and along rolling countryside paths, passing idyllic villages, colorful ancient temples, and serene pagodas. As we cycle through the landscapes surrounding Tuy Hoa City, fields of sweet potato, tapioca, and emerald rice paddies create a peaceful rural backdrop. After lunch in Tuy Hoa City, we conclude the adventure with a 2.5-hour transfer to the coastal city of Nha Trang.

After breakfast, set out on a scenic transfer to the gateway of Cam Ranh International Airport for your domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, receive a warm welcome before embarking on a one-hour shuttle journey to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, with lunch served en route.

Delve into Vietnam’s wartime history as you watch an insightful documentary and venture through the remarkable three-level tunnel network. Discover hidden entrances, ingenious booby traps, and underground chambers while gaining a deeper understanding of the resilience and daily life of the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. In the late afternoon, return to the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City for the evening at leisure.
