Be met at your location in the morning. To begin a day trip cycling to Go Cong after 1.5 hours transfer to the countryside of Can Duoc Dist, which is 45km southeast of Saigon city center. We will ride on a dirt track through jasmine rice paddy fields and small villages, passing many fish farms until we reach to Vam Co River, share space with locals on a small ferry to further side. Then we continue our riding on unique paths, a small trail alongside the river. It is a pleasant time to enjoy the scenery as you pedal your bike slowly through the farms of shrimp and fish. Then we will take another ferry to cross Song Tra River to Go Cong Dist.
We will stop at the local market to enjoy snacks and coffee before cycling through rice paddy fields to the farm of chocolate and its factory. It is a chance you learn about all the steps in the chocolate-making process, welcoming and seeing the farm of cacao trees. You are also could see locals make chocolate at the factory of the family. After lunch, we continue cycling on the back road to Go Cong. We end our ride and travel by our support vehicle to Go Gong, visit the ancient villa of former governor Nguyen Phu Hai. The house was built in 1890, the architecture blended with the French Roman style, but its décor embraces the southern Vietnamese style—a home comprised of 3 compartments, two lean-tos, and a large roof depicting Yin and Yang. We return to Saigon in the late afternoon.
Note: The ancient house of Phu Hai opens: Monday to Friday
A fabulous day tour with Guide Phuc and the Backroads
We had fabulous day tour with Van and the Backroads team into the Mekong. Great tour well organized, super knowledgable about bikes and gear. They had a flexible agenda to meet our groups needs and a great guide Phuc. The chocolate farm was amazing! Thanks Van can’t wait to do our next tour. April 2020
