Cycle from Hoi An to Siem Reap: Vietnam & Cambodia Adventure

Departing from the charming Hoi An Ancient Town, we begin our ride by crossing Cam Kim Bridge and venturing into the tranquil countryside of Cam Kim Island. This scenic cycling route covers approximately 27 km, following a combination of quiet backroads, dirt tracks, rural paths, and paved roads.

As we cycle through the heart of the countryside, you'll pass lush rice paddies, peaceful villages, local farms, and picturesque rural landscapes. Along the way, we cross small rivers and have the opportunity to observe the daily life of local farmers, offering an authentic glimpse into Vietnam's rural culture.

Our destination is My Son Sanctuary, the former spiritual and political center of the ancient Champa Kingdom and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, we board an electric shuttle bus that takes us to the main temple complex. Enjoy free time to explore the fascinating ruins at your own pace, wandering among centuries-old brick temples surrounded by lush jungle while discovering the rich history and unique architecture of this remarkable archaeological site.

After your visit, simply meet your guide at the designated meeting point and relax as we return to Hoi An by private support vehicle, bringing a memorable day of cycling, culture, and history to a comfortable close.

After breakfast, we'll begin the day from the hotel in Hoi An, following quiet backroads that lead us away from the bustling Ancient Town. Crossing the bridge to Cam Kim Island, we enter a peaceful countryside of winding creeks, narrow canals, and a network of concrete and bamboo bridges that add a sense of adventure to the ride. Along the way, we'll pass rice paddies, local homes, and traditional craft workshops.

Leaving the island, we continue across another bridge to the mainland, cycling along quiet country roads lined with sugarcane fields. Water buffalo graze in the paddies while the tranquil Truong Giang River accompanies us south toward Duy Nghia Village, where thatched houses, bamboo footbridges, and fishing nets offer an authentic glimpse into rural Vietnamese life.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we follow scenic coastal roads past hidden beaches, swaying coconut palms, and peaceful fishing villages where colourful basket boats rest on the shore. Our ride finishes at the beautiful Tam Thanh Beach, a perfect place to unwind after a rewarding day in the saddle. We then transfer to the My Lai Memorial, commemorating the tragic My Lai Massacre of 1968, again, we'll have a short shuttle for 30 minutes to rural village, check in the hotel.

Our day begins at the hotel, where we pick up our bikes. Just a few kilometers along the river, we cycle through vibrant villages before crossing lush rice fields and peaceful creeks. A short ferry crossing offers picturesque views of the surrounding landscape and the lively local life amidst verdant rice paddy fields.We continue our ride toward the coast, navigating dirt roads through vegetable farmlands, fish farms, and serene sandy beaches. En route to My A township, we'll pause for lunch. 

Afterward, we'll visit the My A fishing post, cross the river, and resume cycling along its banks toward Duc Pho. In the afternoon, we follow scenic paths leading to Sa Huynh, a destination renowned for its stunning lagoon views and tranquil countryside. The day concludes with a short transfer to the hotel resort in Sa Huynh.

Wake early to greet the sunrise over Sa Huynh Beach, enjoy a peaceful stroll along the shoreline, or simply relax by the sea. After breakfast, savor a rich cup of Vietnamese coffee before setting off on today's coastal cycling adventure.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable start, we begin with a short 15-minute vehicle transfer, bypassing the busiest section of Highway 1 to reach our cycling point. Once back in the saddle, we follow quiet coastal roads toward a string of unspoiled beaches, riding south to the seaside town of Tam Quan. Pedal through this charming fishing community before venturing into Vietnam's famous coconut-growing region. The route winds through peaceful countryside, crossing small rivers and passing fish farms that line the Tam Quan River, offering an authentic glimpse into local rural life.

Lunch is served at a local beachfront restaurant, where you can relax with fresh seafood and enjoy the ocean breeze before continuing the journey. In the afternoon, leave the coconut groves behind and cycle across vibrant green rice paddies. A gentle climb rewards you with sweeping panoramic views over the coastline and crystal-clear beaches stretching below. The ride continues along one of central Vietnam's most scenic coastal roads toward De Ghi, where rolling hills and a short mountain pass add a touch of challenge and spectacular scenery to the day.

After reaching De Ghi, we board our support vehicle for the final transfer to Quy Nhon, arriving in the late afternoon with time to relax and reflect on a memorable day of cycling through Vietnam's stunning coastal landscapes.

After a delicious breakfast, we leave Quy Nhon behind with a short transfer out of the city to reach the cycling point. From here, pedal through peaceful fishing villages and lush green countryside, soaking in the tranquil rhythms of local life as the landscape gradually unfolds.

Our first cultural highlight is the remarkable Banh It Cham Towers (Yang M'Tian), followed by the majestic Duonng Long Cham Towers, two of the finest surviving monuments of the ancient Kingdom of Champa. Discover the fascinating history of this seafaring civilization, renowned for its maritime trade, distinctive architecture, and centuries of resilience. Our delicious lunch will be served in local restaurant in small town along the way.

We'll continue on rustic paths, across vast farmlands, and small trails along the scenic river to Quang Trung Museum, dedicated to one of Vietnam's greatest national heroes. Learn about Emperor Quang Trung's extraordinary leadership, his decisive military victories during the Tay Son Rebellion, and the lasting legacy he left on Vietnamese history.

The scenic routes wind through authentic countryside, passing rice fields, quiet hamlets, and fertile farmland, offering countless opportunities to experience the charm and beauty of rural Vietnam. After a rewarding morning in the saddle, enjoy a leisurely local lunch before settling in for a comfortable three-hour transfer to Pleiku. As the road climbs into Vietnam's Central Highlands, watch the scenery transform from coastal plains to rolling hills, verdant forests, and the cool, peaceful landscapes that welcome you to Pleiku.

After an early breakfast, we leave the cool highlands of Pleiku behind and set off on a 1.5-hour transfer toward the Cambodian border. At Le Thanh Border Gate, we bid farewell to our Vietnamese crew, complete immigration formalities, cross into Cambodia, and continue with a 1-hour shuttle transfer to Bar Kaev, enjoying traditional Cambodian cuisine en route. There, we pick up our bikes for our first day's ride in Cambodia.

As we venture into the lush countryside, the landscape quickly reveals its distinctive character—rolling hills, dirt roads through verdant coffee farmlands, and rural villages with plenty of photo opportunities along the way: buffalo, cows, wooden stilt houses on the hillsides, and forests that give this remote region its untamed beauty. We continue through the gently undulating countryside, tackling a gradual climb before enjoying a rewarding descent to the outskirts of Banlung. We board the support vehicles for a short transfer that brings us to Banlung town.

Overnight at a beautifully restored Khmer-style retreat overlooking the water. With its elegant architecture, tranquil setting, and warm hospitality, it offers the perfect place to relax after the day's ride. Spending two nights here also gives us plenty of time to explore the unique culture, natural beauty, and hidden treasures of this fascinating corner of Cambodia.

We begin the day by cycling toward Stung Treng Province along Road 78, a smooth tarmac route that winds through the picturesque landscapes of Ratanakiri. As we pedal through this unspoiled region, enjoy sweeping views of emerald rice paddies, endless rubber plantations, and charming rural villages, offering an authentic glimpse into Cambodia's tranquil countryside.

Today bike ride is more relaxing as we cycle from highland to the Delta River. Along the way, we pause beneath the shade of lush rubber trees, where you can relax, breathe in the fresh country air, and experience the peaceful rhythm of local life. These refreshing stops provide the perfect opportunity to connect with the natural beauty and genuine hospitality of rural Cambodia.

Today's ride is one of the longest and most rewarding of the journey. With full vehicle support throughout the day, you have the flexibility to cycle as much or as little as you like. Challenge yourself to complete the entire route or simply hop into the support vehicle whenever you wish—it's your adventure, at your own pace. This afternoon, we transfer the final stretch into Stung Treng, where a comfortable hotel awaits. After checking in, unwind and reflect on the day's adventure before enjoying a delicious dinner at Stung Treng Resort.

Wake up to the peaceful atmosphere of Stung Treng and enjoy breakfast before setting off on another rewarding day of cycling through Cambodia's authentic countryside. Today's adventure is divided into two scenic rides, connected by a comfortable 1.5-hour support vehicle transfer.

The morning ride begins from the hotel, following a mix of quiet dirt tracks and paved roads along the Mekong River. Cycle through traditional villages shaded by palm trees, past wooden stilt houses, colorful temples, and lively local markets. From Srae Krasang Village, the route heads inland toward National Road 7, passing remote communities and rubber plantations before completing the morning's 33 km ride.

After a delicious local lunch and transfer, the afternoon ride follows peaceful riverside roads at a more relaxed pace. Pedal past floating houses, tranquil lakes, rice paddies, and fertile farmland, with a stop to see dolphins by boat. After the one-hour boat ride to see dolphins, we carry on the day cycling to Kratie. The afternoon includes approximately 29 km of cycling, arriving in the charming riverside town of Kratie, where you can relax at the hotel and reflect on another memorable day exploring Cambodia by bicycle.

The day's ride concludes in Stueng Trang, where you board the support vehicle for a comfortable 1.5-hour transfer to Kampong Thom. After checking into your hotel, the remainder of the evening is yours to relax and prepare for tomorrow's adventure.

Our day begins with a scenic ride out of town, following the meandering Stung Sen River into the heart of the jungle, where the remarkable Sambor Prei Kuk temple complex awaits. Dating back to the 7th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was built during the height of the pre-Angkorian Chenla Kingdom and offers a fascinating glimpse into Cambodia's rich architectural and spiritual heritage. Wander among intricately carved sandstone sanctuaries, where ancient ruins emerge from the lush forest in an atmosphere of timeless beauty.

After exploring this extraordinary archaeological site, we continue cycling through the verdant countryside before stopping for a delicious local Cambodian lunch, a perfect opportunity to relax and sample the region's authentic flavors. Our journey then brings us to the millennium-old Kampong Kdei Bridge, a remarkable feat of ancient Khmer engineering. Its elegant stone arches carried traffic until just over a decade ago and stand as a lasting symbol of Cambodia's rich history and resilience.

From here, we enjoy a scenic three-hour transfer to Siem Reap, Cambodia's vibrant cultural gateway and home to the legendary temples of Angkor. Upon arrival, we check in to our hotel, and the rest of the evening is yours to explore the town at your own pace.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor is a timeless testament to the grandeur of the Khmer Empire, where powerful god-kings built magnificent stone temples between the 9th and 15th centuries CE. Our final day is dedicated to exploring Angkor’s iconic landmarks by bicycle, following winding paths across the ancient plains to discover remarkable temples and hidden ruins.

As we ride through the lush landscape, we encounter weathered laterite and sandstone walls embraced by the gnarled roots of towering fig trees—a breathtaking scene where nature and history exist in perfect harmony. At Bayon, we marvel at the temple’s serene stone faces, each gazing toward a cardinal direction with an air of timeless mystery. We then continue to the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s national symbol and the world’s largest religious monument. Wandering through its grand galleries and courtyards, we admire exquisite carvings and intricate bas-reliefs depicting Hindu mythology, epic battles, and the eternal cycles of life.

In the afternoon, we return to Siem Reap to relax before our farewell dinner. The day concludes with authentic Khmer cuisine at one of the town’s renowned restaurants, a fitting finale to an unforgettable journey through one of the world’s greatest archaeological treasures.
