Bac Ha is a small town surrounded by mountains and is well known for its Sunday market, which attracts local hill tribes, especially the exotically dressed Flower Hmong. Every Sunday, villagers from the surrounding hills and valleys come with farm products and livestock to sell. Bac Ha is also famous for the Vua Meo Palace, built in 1921 by the French for the Tay chief Hoang A Tuong. The palace was designed to keep him living in comfort and style, and it is a striking example of an unusual "Eastern Baroque" architectural style on the northern edge of Bac Ha. The town is also a popular overnight stop for travelers taking adventurous train journeys from Ha Noi to the northwest and northeast. Vietnam Bike Tours
