Bike riding route Ha Tien - Ho Chi Minh

HaTien – Ba Chuc – Tra Su - Chau Doc

There is a long way to drive from HCM to Ha Tien, so our team will leave Saigon one day before, and our bike guide will come to meet you at your accommodation in Ha Tien in the evening. He will make a brief before the ride starts the following day. You will be picked up at the dock/ hotel in Ha Tien town to transfer you to the starting point. We first ride on back roads across rice paddy fields and through the mountain before continuing cycling on paths to Ba Chu Killing field. Secondly, after visiting the memorial at Ba Chuc village, your guide will lead you riding on hilly trails to Tra Su national reserve forest, and it is also a bird sanctuary. You will have a boat rowed, and motorboat through the woods as propelled sampan boat and trekking into cajuput trees. These wetlands attract many birds, including storks, egrets, cormorants, peafowl, and water cocks. We will have lunch at a nice restaurant in the forest.  Then we go to Chau Doc by our private vehicle.

Chau Doc – Co Moi - Cao Lanh

Chau Doc is a small town but well-known because it has international border gates, water, and land that tourists travel vice versa between Vietnam and Cambodia. Today's morning activities are to enjoy the boat ride and adventure cycling. Firstly, we spend more than an hour motor boat learning how to raise catfish in a floating village and the life of hard-working people living on their small boats as their home. Secondly, we will have easy and relaxing cycling along river banks of the Mekong River, from village to village on quiet paths where you could see farmers growing vegetables, chili, eggplant, water rice plants and fish farms along on natural creeks. In the afternoon, we explore Gieng Islet by bicycle, passing an impressive architectural monastery, local markets, and stilt houses before a ferry boat takes us to mainland. Then, we follow the back roads through mango orchards in the city of Cao Lanh.

Cao Lanh city – Sadec – Can Tho

The ride will start from the hotel after your breakfast. Beautiful back roads give you opportunities to take photos, enjoy your pace of cycling. You are also meet friendly people and experience the way of making their living. On your morning activities, see older adults doing business at local markets, kids going to school by little pushbikes, and locals working on the moped. Stop and wait for a ferry to cross a river to further side. We ride and make some stops in Sadec; experience the daily activities of locals who look after bonsai trees and nursery gardens in the flower village of Sadec. One of the historical sites and famous in Sadec is Huynh Thuy Le's ancient house which is well-known from the movie "The Lover" since its getting published. Your guide will tell you about the story of Marguerite Duras who was involved in the movie “The Lover” Your lunch is also well-prepared in this house. In the afternoon, country back roads and paths through lush green rice fields, sweet potato plantations, and a massive network of small rivers before we get on van/bus for a short transfer to Can Tho city.

Can Tho - Floating market - HCM

Can Tho is known as the capital of the Mekong Delta. Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho City is one of the three most significant in the Mekong Delta. The shops and stalls at these markets are boats of different sizes. It opens all day but the busiest time from sunrise to about 9 am. Most of the main items for selling are farm products and specialties of locals and neighboring areas. Every boat has a long upright pole at its bow on which samples of the goods for sale are hung. Before your cycle, you will have a boat ride to the floating market. Then a short transfer you to Binh Minh to start a half-day ride. We explore some islands by bike and by small ferry boats and continue onward cycle to Vinh Long. Lunch will be served in locally before a transfer takes you to HCM.

Road Condition

Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta, Vietnam, has rural path network systems, and they had very well-developed by governments. All country back roads are asphalt, concrete paths connecting villages to villages as it's a vast network. The rest are dirt tracks, so do not worry about exploring the Mekong Delta by bicycle, even you are a beginner. Depending on the regions, lowlands, or jungles, and rural villages of each province, our hand-picked routes are the best for your biking trips


Flexible route - The most important key to you

You do not have to ride the exact kilometer distance as it's showing on daily biking of each itinerary. It will be flexible as you want. Even you could choose some longest distance that more than 80km per day if a whole day ride. You could spend more time cycling if you think the biking distance is too short! Or you can enjoy short routes and spend more time taking photos, stopping at villages/ small markets, or the home of locals to find something interesting.


Throughout the Mekong Delta and its rivers with thousand branches! You will ride on various roads; flat trails, paths, rural roads, and country back roads where they are too small for vehicles. There are four Ethnic groups of people lying in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. They are Khmer, Cham, Chinese and Vietnamese. Each province has its own characteristics, economy and local style of living and culture and history. However, the Mekong Delta River has a thousand branches, natural creeks, and canals that small ferry boats are so important in the countryside, and riders have no choice!

Weather

The temperatures in the Mekong delta are all year round, about 25-28°C with only slight variations. The climate of the Mekong River Basin ranges from temperate to tropical. In the Upper Mekong Basin, some of the taller peaks of the Tibetan Plateau are glaciated. Much of this part of the Basin is snow-covered in winter. Melting snow from the Tibetan Plateau feeds the Mekong River’s dry-season flow, especially in the middle reaches. In the relatively lower elevations of the Yunnan province of China, the climate of the Mekong River Basin changes, and the temperature gradually increases.


  • The dry season is from October to the last of April. Farmers make three rice crops per year, so travelers meet them at their homes and see them working on farmlands. Significantly, the dry season is closed to the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, and it makes locals doing more and trying to work hard to get more money. The weather is nice, low temperature and more relaxed than other seasons.

  • The wet season is called the flooded season or the monsoon season. It is the time of year when most of a region's average annual rainfall occurs. Sea level is higher than usual by heavy rains from upstream countries; Tibetan- China, Laos , Thailand, and Cambodia. Provinces in southwest of Mekong Delta have yearly flooded but not so long. It's from last of August to early of Nov. That is the best way to see Mekong Delta on back roads by bicycle.

    In general, the preferred travel time is the dry season. But even during the rainy season from May to October is also a perfect time to travel by bicycle of very short rains. The rain usually comes in short, heavy showers, mainly in the afternoon, and only lasts for an hour. Only a few days a year, the temperature is below 20°C. It usually takes around one hour, then gone, and sunshine turns back to normal.

There is only one A/C 16 seater van to take up all riders, luggage & suitcases, and bikes. There are four rows of seating for passengers on the A/C 16 seater van. Two people sit on each row. The third row is for luggage and suitcases. The last row of seats will be folded up, so all bikes will be uploaded here.

A medium group tour: from 5 to 7 people

There will be two vehicles to support riders on the entire trip. One 16 seater van to take up all riders, luggage & suitcases. Another truck to carry all bikes, spare bikes, tool kits, icebox to keep cold drinks, and so on




A large group tour: 8 to 14 people

One minibus to take up all riders, including luggage & suitcases, and one truck to carry all bikes, spare bikes, water, cold drinks, and snacks...Iceboxes



A group has more than 15 riders and more than 20 people

We provide two vans and one minibus, and one truck to escort large groups of riders and help ensure their safety. Our pro guide will motivate a team with support vehicles to bring the best services to riders.
