Biking Mekong Delta and Mekong Cruising are now a booming industry. Travelers take small speed boat from Phnom Penh to Chau Doc, Vietnam before they enjoy bicycle riding through provinces of Long Xuyen, Cao Lanh, Sadec, Can Tho, Tra Vinh and Ben Tre to Ho Chi Minh. Sam Mountain is outside of Chau Doc where is a place of pilgrimage for Vietnamese Buddhists. It provides some of the best sunsets in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. Another place is not far from Chau Doc is Tra Su forest. It is around 25km to the south south west of Chau Doc. The forest is a former plantation that is now a wildlife reserve. The town is located by the Hau Giang River- Lower branch and its about 250 kilometres west of Ho Chi Minh City. It takes about six hours to travel by bus from Ho Chi Minh City. Its considered as smuggling town. Smugglers use high-speed boats to transport goods from Cambodia to An Giang city via Chau Doc town. Chau Doc is a get way to Cambodia, especially those over landing between Vietnam and neighbouring Cambodia as it is the launching point for the speedboat service between here and Phnom Penh. Places to visit: Tra Su nature reserve forest, Sam Mountain is the highest mountain in the Mekong Delta, Muslim village with its houses on stilts and Signs in Arabic on the walls.
